Whether in pharmacies, supermarkets or drugstores: products with cannabidiol can be found in various forms on retail shelves. And of course also in special CBD shops<\/a> like ours. The fact that CBD with its versatile properties has a positive effect on the human body<\/strong> has not been a secret for a long time.<\/p>\n

A large number of consumers with sleep disorders, depression or migraine and abdominal pain have already been able to significantly improve their quality of life by taking CBD. But how do you integrate cannabidiol into your everyday life? In this article, I explain how you can easily incorporate CBD into your diet and tell you what to consider when cooking with cannabidiol.<\/p>\n

CBD infused cooking oil: What are we talking about?<\/h2>\n

The two compounds of the cannabis plant that have been studied most often are tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD). Both compounds react with the endocannabinoid system (ECS for short) of the human body. Endocannabinoids are formed naturally in the body and support the organism in many biological processes. For example, they control sleep, appetite and memory.<\/p>\n

Similar to the body’s own endocannabinoids, cannabidiol can, for example, inhibit the sensation of pain or help with sleeping through the night. In contrast to THC, CBD does not have an intoxicating effect and therefore does not make you high. CBD is legal<\/a> and can be sold freely in Germany – but hemp products with a THC content above 0.2%<\/a> cannot.<\/p>\n

Mixing it correctly: Cooking with CBD infused oil<\/h3>\n

A few times a year I have the misfortune to be surprised by migraine attacks. Usually the only thing that helps is a day in bed – curtains and eyes closed. Sometimes they try to kill time with a podcast, but when it’s really bad, sleeping is the only thing that helps. Every now and then, I’ve heard the topic of CBD among my friends. To be honest, I only really got to know CBD products through Instagram.<\/p>\n

I don’t like to take synthetic painkillers and as a migraine sufferer I am always open to natural alternatives for pain relief. Half a year ago, I decided to try taking CBD oil<\/a> on a regular basis. And what can I say? I love cooking! So I decided not to get my daily dose of cannabidiol by just taking CBD oil, but to add it to my diet every now and then. During my research, I came across a recent study.<\/p>\n

It showed that taking cannabidiol with a high-fat meal increases bioavailability by four to five times. Specifically, this means that the rate at which cannabidiol is absorbed into the body’s tissues is significantly higher when it is taken at the same time as food.<\/p>\n

Cooking it up: How do I integrate cannabidiol into my cooking?<\/h3>\n

Cannabidiol is fat-soluble<\/strong> and can therefore be ideally combined with a carrier oil. Usually a healthy cooking oil such as coconut, hemp or olive oil is used for this. However, as the oil does not like heat, it is not suitable for frying. Fortunately, there are other ways to prepare CBD cooking oil that are ideal. I personally prefer it in a classic balsamic dressing.<\/p>\n

For this, I use one third olive oil, one third balsamic vinegar and one third CBD infused cooking oil. It is then paired with half a teaspoon of mustard (I prefer Dijon) and half a teaspoon of honey. Wonderfully versatile and incredibly tasty. It can also be used in pasta sauce or fresh guacamole<\/strong>. My tip as a rule of thumb: Replace your favorite cooking oil, such as olive or coconut oil, with a third of CBD infused oil<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The mild nutty taste<\/strong> adapts wonderfully to many dishes. It also works wonderfully as a marinade, topping for a delicious soup or on pizza mixed with chili and garlic. The study’s argument that CBD is better absorbed by the body when combined with food always drives me to try out new, exciting recipes. Since starting to take CBD, I have only had one mild attack of my migraines. This may or may not be related to taking cannabidiol.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, I am convinced that CBD is ideal as a dietary supplement<\/strong>. The antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective effects <\/strong>of cannabidiol have been scientifically proven and are an ideal addition to a healthy lifestyle.<\/p>\n
