Is hemp a superfood?
For several years now, more and more foods are gaining “superfood status.” From tropical plants like avocados to European staples like kale, there are many to choose from. Generally speaking, the term superfood is a label given to foods that have especially high concentrations of vitamins and other nutrients. Because of this, they can have a positive effect on your health. Of course, some people tend to overestimate this effect a little, but from a nutritional science point of view superfoods can indeed have a positive effect on the body’s health. Hemp seeds contain a lot of vitamins and different omega fatty acids. Hemp protein provides the body with these nutrients, even when less of it is ingested than hemp seeds. In particular, B vitamins are found in the hemp plant, which makes it especially appealing to vegans and vegetarians, as these vitamins tend to be more easily found in animal products. Vitamin B2, for example, is important for muscle gain and a healthy nervous system.
