ENJOY THE JOY RIDE: WHY SMALL RITUALS WHILE TRAVELLING MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE

Its that time of the year: The season when we spend hundreds of euros to answer the exact same emails — just from a different country. In between, there’s sunscreen, overcrowded airports, spontaneous Aperol breaks and at least one person who has already claimed the best poolside sunbed before sunrise. Vacation, after all. As beautiful as traveling can be, somewhere between flight delays, changing time zones, restaurant research and being constantly online, we often forget what it’s actually about: slowing down. Or at least taking our foot off the gas for a little while. Because sometimes it’s not the big adventures that make the biggest difference. It’s the small rituals that help us stay connected to ourselves, wherever we are. At least in theory…

In reality, we’re standing at the airport at 4:30 AM, desperately looking for the right gate, answering a few last-minute emails and somehow trying to enjoy the first day of our holiday at the same time. Travel broadens the mind, no doubt about it. But travel also comes with something nobody really talks about: It disrupts our routines. Suddenly we’re sleeping in a different bed, eating at different times and navigating completely unfamiliar surroundings. And that’s exactly why so many people feel surprisingly stressed, even when they’re in their dream destination.

SAME DAY, DIFFERENT VIEW: WHY ROUTINES MATTER

Most of us associate routines with boring to-do lists and repetitive schedules. But in reality, it’s often the smallest habits that give us a sense of stability. The first coffee in the morning. A short walk. A few quiet moments before the day begins. Or a personal wellness ritual in the evening. These habits help us stay balanced, even when everything around us changes.

NEVER NOT ONLINE

Vacation used to mean one thing: distance. Distance from everyday life. Distance from work. Distance from the things waiting for us back home. Today, it often looks a little different. We travel with our smartphones, laptops, smartwatches and what feels like a hundred open tabs running through our minds. Before we’ve even landed, we’ve already checked the weather, organised transportation, saved restaurant recommendations and messaged friends to let them know we’ve arrived safely. And once we’re there, it continues. We navigate new cities, search for the best cafés on Google Maps, reply to messages, post stories and keep friends and family updated on every highlight. In short: we bring our digital lives with us. The average adult spends several hours a day on their smartphone, and even while traveling, many of us struggle to fully switch off. Thanks to remote work, digital communication and constant connectivity, we’re more flexible than ever before — but we’re also more reachable than ever. Our phones are both a blessing and a curse. They help us discover new places, find hotels, book tickets and uncover hidden gems.

At the same time, they can turn a quick glance at the screen into twenty minutes of Instagram, three answered emails and two brand-new to-do lists. Sometimes, even vacation becomes a project. Which sights do we absolutely need to see? Which restaurant is trending and which spots are Instagram-worthy? And why does everyone else seem to be having a better trip than we are? What should feel like rest quickly becomes another optimisation challenge. It’s no surprise that more and more people aren’t searching for the perfect vacation anymore. They’re searching for moments of genuine presence. A coffee before the city wakes up, a walk without headphones, a sunset that doesn’t immediately end up on social media, or simply a few minutes where nothing is consumed, planned or documented. Just experienced.

Because maybe modern travel isn’t about being completely offline. Maybe it’s about becoming more intentional with our attention. Choosing when to be connected and when to simply be where we are.

SOMETIMES THE BEST PLAN IS NO PLAN

Some of the best travel memories happen when nothing is planned. A sunset on a rooftop, a café discovered by accident, awalk into the unknown. Ten minutes somewhere beautiful without checking your phone. And perhaps reminding ourselves that not every moment needs to be optimised. Sometimes the best things happen when we stop trying to improve every experience and simply allow it to unfold. Not every moment needs to be documented. The best trips are often the ones where we allow ourselves to be fully present.

CBD AS PART OF YOUR TRAVEL ROUTINE

For many people, CBD has become part of their daily wellness rituals. Just like a morning coffee or an evening routine at home. Those who don’t want to leave their habits behind while traveling often look for simple formats that fit easily into everyday life. Particularly popular are compact solutions such as CBD vape pens and other practical travel companions.

Our favourite CBD products for life on the go:

CBD Vape Pen

CBD Broad Spectrum Oil 18%

CBD Flower  Amalfi Lemon Pre-Roll

Important: Before traveling, always check the laws and regulations of your destination country. Rules regarding CBD products can vary significantly depending on where you’re traveling.

BALANCE ISN’T SOMETHING YOU FIND. IT’S SOMETHING YOU CREATE.

We spend a lot of time searching for balance. Maybe that’s the wrong approach, maybe balance isn’t something waiting to be found. Maybe it’s something we consciously create every day. Through small rituals. Through intentional pauses. Through moments that help us stay connected to ourselves — whether we’re at home, in the office or somewhere between Berlin and Barcelona. Because the best journeys don’t necessarily change who we are. They simply remind us of what matters most.
