CBD for Anxiety Disorders: How to get your anxiety under control with CBD

Everyday stress can be challenging. More and more appointments besiege the calendar, and at work the pressure to perform increases. No wonder we burn out at such a rapid pace. At the same time, the psyche often suffers from the permanent pressure. The consequences can be panic attacks and anxiety disorders.

What if my performance is not adequate, and I fail? We’ve probably all had this thought at one time or another. Shake it off and take a breath, is the motto. But that is usually easier said than done. With CBD for an anxiety disorder, however, you can succeed. CBD has a calming effect, and it can have a positive impact on your mental state.

But what exactly is an anxiety disorder, and how does it manifest? And does CBD really help in such a case? Is it even legal? Questions upon questions – after all, CBD for anxiety disorder is not a common topic. Nevertheless, we at Tom Hemp’s are taking on this one. In our article, you will find everything you need to know about CBD for anxiety and panic attacks.

How do you recognize an anxiety disorder?

Whether it’s a fear of flying, heights or a monster under the bed – there are many situations in which our heartbeat increases rapidly. However, these fears do not have to be pathological. So don’t panic!

Fear is a natural mechanism that is intended to draw attention to imminent dangers. In the case of fear of heights, for example, it is the danger of falling and being at the mercy of gravity. We lock the front door to counteract the fear that someone might break in. You see, fear is basically based on natural instincts and in a certain way represents protective thinking.

With a mental illness, it’s different. There are six different types of anxiety disorders: panic disorders, phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorders, hypochondria, trauma, and generalized anxiety disorders. The differences lie in the fact that the fear concerns different situations, experiences or events.

Typical physical symptoms that indicate an anxiety disorder are, for example, palpitations, sweating, trembling, shortness of breath, hot flashes, dizziness or nausea. Symptoms that are more clearly attributable to an anxiety disorder in combination with the aforementioned complaints are of psychological origin. These relate primarily to feelings. These include panic, helplessness, powerlessness, loss of control and, in the worst case, even fear of death.

Of course, the symptoms in detail do not always indicate an anxiety disorder. Physicians also consider and evaluate the frequency and severity of the symptoms for diagnosis in order to be able to make well-founded statements.

You always have the feeling of losing control in certain situations? You feel helpless and overwhelmed? Be brave and don’t keep this to yourself. Talk about it with confidants and a doctor. With the right treatment, panic attacks and anxiety can be managed.

How CBD helps you against anxiety and panic attacks

CBD has long been on everyone’s lips. It is increasingly used for pain relief and has a calming effect at the same time. So why not also benefit from CBD for anxiety disorder and panic?

The same opinion is science and research. Several studies deal with the subject and come to the conclusion that CBD can work wonders for anxiety disorders and panic. Want a few examples?

As part of a study, people with social phobia were asked to speak in front of an audience. Pure stress for the test subjects! While half of them were given CBD before the dreaded performance, the other half received a placebo. And lo and behold: those people who were treated with CBD showed significantly fewer typical symptoms at the end than the people in the comparison group. Hooray for the miracle cure CBD.

Further, studies confirm the described positive effect also in acute panic disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders and post-traumatic stress disorders. The increased release of natural stress hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol can be significantly reduced through the interaction with the endocannabinoid system. In addition, CBD has a positive influence on the serotonin receptor, which is responsible for our happiness hormones.

The long-term effect of CBD on anxiety disorders is still being investigated. Well-founded scientific findings on the subject have therefore not yet been obtained. However, in our opinion, the signs are consistently positive! CBD for anxiety disorders – a match made in heaven, if you ask us.

Anxiety-free without side effects?

With prescription drugs like antidepressants, sleep disturbances, weight gain, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea are common. None of this applies to CBD. CBD for anxiety disorder is considered extremely tolerable and has virtually no side effects.

However, you should not consume CBD in combination with other medications, as this could lead to interactions. For example, you should not combine CBD with acid inhibitors, painkillers, anticoagulants or neuroleptics. If you want to use CBD for anxiety therapy, you should talk to a doctor about it in advance and get detailed advice. The best way to use CBD for anxiety disorders is in the form of a CBD oil.

Exactly which mechanisms in the body, CBD acts on in anxiety disorders is not yet known. The scientific situation is – as so often – incomplete. However, many studies indicate that CBD has a supportive effect on anxiety disorders and addresses the symptoms. As a result, you can better deal with stressful situations and anxiety can be reduced.

Are CBD drops legal for panic attacks?

CBD is legal in Germany and most other EU countries, unlike cannabis, because it is not a narcotic substance. However, before CBD can be sold legally, it must first be approved and verified. There are many regulations for the sale of CBD that manufacturers must follow. Here are some examples:

According to the legal regulations, only industrial hemp with a maximum THC content of 0.2% may be used for the production of CBD. THC is the substance from the hemp plant with psychoactive effects. In this low concentration, however, nothing of it is noticeable in CBD against anxiety disorder and panic. You cannot get high with or through CBD.

A prohibition for manufacturers also exists in the advertising of their CBD products. CBD may also not be marketed as food, as it is not approved for this purpose.

To make a long story short: CBD consumption in the usual forms is not illegal in Germany and can take place without concern during panic attacks. In many countries in Asia, Africa and South America, however, the situation is different. Here, CBD is not legal. There you have to watch out!

Proper dosage: How much hemp oil with CBD is necessary for panic attacks?

If you want to get your anxiety disorder under control with CBD, the dosage must be correct. There is no universal formula for the correct amount. After all, everybody reacts differently to CBD.

If you start with a somewhat low dosage, you can’t go wrong. For very severe symptoms, the dosage can be gradually increased and adjusted. Always pay attention to the package insert and the CBD content.

Five drops of a 5% CBD oil three times a day is an example of a low dose. This amount is usually suitable for conditions such as stress and nervousness. For an actual anxiety condition with extensive discomfort, three times three drops of a slightly higher dose CBD oil is recommended.

Despite this recommendation, it is best to find the optimal dosage for your needs yourself. Listen to your body and give it time to get used to the new treatment approach.

No power to fear: Our tips for more calm and serenity

4 steps for more calm and serenity

  1. Breaks, breaks, breaks!

Allow yourself to rest and relaxation when you notice it’s getting too much. This is the best way to avoid stressful situations that threaten to escalate. Sometimes a deep breath is enough to let go of stress and find inner peace. Sounds pretty simple, doesn’t it? Just give it a try.

  2. Get enough exercise!

Sport reduces stress hormones and has been proven to help with mental illness. After physical activity, you will certainly feel more balanced and motivated to master the challenges of everyday life.

  3. Restful sleep!

Think of your bed as a gas station for cars. The car is refueled with fuel so that it can move reliably. And we also fill up our energy supply in bed while we sleep, so that we can get through the next day with vigor. If you are on a mental merry-go-round in the evening and can’t switch off, CBD can help you to calm down and fall asleep.

  4. Think, act and feel positively!

Are there people in your life who have a negative influence on your feelings and thoughts through their words and deeds? In this case, it can be useful for you to distance yourself from them. The subconscious stress will be reduced, stressful situations avoided and serenity strengthened.

And by the way: You never have to have a guilty conscience towards others when you make a decision for yourself, your health or your well-being. Choose to be happy!
